Naddy powers Mundelein past Lake Forest

Alexis Naddy delivered 8 kills and 2 aces, and Mundelein's girls volleyball team defeated Lake Forest 25-22, 25-22 in the Class 4A Lake Forest regional semifinals Tuesday night.

No. 8 Mundelein (21-15) earns a berth in Thursday's 6 p.m. final against top-seeded Prairie Ridge.

The Mustangs' other contributors included Taylor Heath (6 kills), Isabella Cartland (4 kills), Brianna Martin (3 kills), Faith Krabbe (10 assists on 26-of-26 setting) and Maggie O'Donnell (10 digs).

Crystal Lake Central d. Grayslake North: At Libertyville, the second-seeded Tigers won the Class 4A regional semifinal 25-9, 25-18 to advance to Thursday's 6 p.m. final against No. 7 Libertyville.

Grayslake North was led by Lindsey Diep with 6 assists, Jessica Pozezinski and Alyssa Gerzel with 4 kills each and Emmy Bongiovanni with 5 blocks. The 15th-seeded Knights finished their season, in which they set the school record for wins, with an 18-19 record, despite starting four sophomores and one freshman most of the season.

"The future looks bright," coach Jim Sarver said.

Warren d. McHenry: At Marian Central, Dana Lundtveit and Ella White had 8 and 7 kills, respectively, as the fourth-seeded Blue Devils won 25-20, 20-16.

Amanda Howe added 12 digs and 2 aces for Warren (29-7), which advances to Thursday's 6 p.m. final against No. 5 Lakes. Abby Berkowicz lofted 11 assists for the Blue Devils, and Ora Cohen had 2 kills and 2 blocks.

Lakes d. Marian Central: At Marian Central. the fifth-seeded Eagles won 25-15, 26-24, as Paule Ceneac had 8 kills.

Ashley Smith and Keelan Bell each had 4 kills and 2 aces for Lakes (24-7), which takes on No. 4 Warren for the regional title at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The Eagles also received contributions from Devinn Bell (19 assists, 8 digs), Abby Vanderwall (11 digs), Kelli Rettig (3 kills, 9 digs), Sara Smith (2 kills) and Alli Ulrich (3 digs).

Carmel d. Rockford Boylan: At Rockford Boylan, the top-seeded Corsairs ousted the No. 8 seed in the Class 3A regional semifinals 25-13, 25-13.

Carmel (21-15), which has won seven matches in a row, will take on No. 5 Woodstock in Thursday's 6 p.m. regional final.

Sophomores Annie Bart and Riley Clark had 7 and 6 kills, respectively, for the Corsairs, while Kaitlyn Donton dished out 11 assists. Other contributors for Carmel included Mya Mainzer (4 kills), Jolina Moisio (4 digs), Milana Moisio (16 digs), Patti Needham (9 assists, 4 digs) and Eileen Tarcha (4 kills, 2 aces on 14-of-14 serving, 9 digs).

Richmond-Burton d. Antioch: At Antioch, the third-seeded Sequoits were upset on their home court by a 25-15, 25-7 final in the Class 3A regional semifinal.

No. 6 Richmond-Burton advances to Thursday's 6 p.m. final against No. 7 Woodstock North, which upset second-seeded Regina Dominican.
